He has a passion for cricket and for that he has really worked very hard. We wish for his success.

He had a passion for cricket right from his childhood and liked nothing else but playing with the bat and the ball. I wanted him to study hard and get into a government service. But, he wanted to do something in cricket and earn a name for himself.

I was not earning too much...had a limited money which I could not have even thought of spending on his playing cricket. Till he was in seventh standard, I tried to dissuade him in whatever way I could - sometimes by scolding him and sometimes with love and affection. But, finally we gave up.

More cricket is played in the country and there appears to be a greater passion for the game in those areas. With this in mind, there appears to be a stronger possibility of players from these areas coming through to the top and we need to focus on these individuals.

And yet, winning is like a welcome drink going down your throat, like a beautiful embrace. It is brilliant while it lasts but it isn't forever. The high eventually melts away and the journey of life begins afresh. The truly remarkable among us visit these highs periodically; winning then becomes a journey, a graph where each point is crucial but is in reality merely part of a larger curve.

Passion is a necessary ingredient for success.
