Having the governor speak in Sidney is a big deal. All are invited to come and see him in person. He's known as the common people's man, so he relates well with the rural folks. He's like one of us, he wears cowboy boots, dresses in jeans, and keeps his ranch dog with him in Helena.

They laughed at me in Helena at another convention when I told them I was inviting Schweitzer to speak. They said, 'The governor will never come out to Sidney,' but it never hurts to ask.

A lot of senior citizens don't get out much. They have no idea who he is. If you come and listen to Schweitzer, you can experience meeting him and get a feeling for him yourself. A lot of people have no idea who he is, so this is their chance to meet him and hear for yourself what he has to say.

I'm a person that just likes to speak the truth, and I don't understand why in America it's such a big deal that we won't read the Koran and we won't look at history.
