Governor Perry has been the most open book in terms of a long-standing history of releasing his complete tax returns for years so the public is able to totally examine his sources of income.

That's not an apples-to-apples comparison because some states include facilities in their per-pupil expenditures; some include textbooks — some don't. So there's no way of getting an adequate comparison.

Once there is a bill on his desk addressing that, he's willing to open it to other issues.

People are sick and tired of political attacks from Washington politicians who are more worried about getting media attention than in solving problems.

The governor thinks it's a very important issue to be in D.C. to testify before the committee on all of the actions Texas took between Hurricane Katrina and Rita and the financial impact those actions had on our state and continue to have on our state.

It's a natural and well-expected reluctance.
