Gene preservation is impossible without the participation of the opposite sex. It sometimes
requires painful restriction in personal freedom of choice and sometimes leads to that truly dramatic development in the relationship between the sexes which we call love.

The human thirst to preserve one’s genes and the thirst for freedom of choice are like yin and yang, tightly woven like a tangle of snakes at the heart of one in love, devouring each other, complementing each other, penetrating each other.
