Gay marriage passed in New York because four Republican legislators crossed party lines. They did it in part because they had true bipartisan financial support.

Our goal is not to be New York or L.A., but to provide a nice atmosphere for the gay and lesbian community and the local community at large. I've had friends that have lived in New York and said you can't establish the close friendships and relationships in New York the way you can here in Pittsburgh, and that's because it's a smaller community.

I do not support a constitutional amendment to prohibit gay marriage.

Here's why I cannot vote for Rudy Giuliani. He's pro-abortion. He's never repudiated gay marriage in New York City or at least the civil unions in New York City. He's called a champion of gay rights. Rudy is opposed to school choice. He's in favor of open borders.

I'm for gay marriage, because I'm for gay divorce.

Rhode Island and New York don't have clear definitions of marriage in their statutes or constitutions.
