For our first game, I was really impressed. We were all in the right spots. We had good defense, pitching and hitting.

We're right there. I don't think we played a very good game. Errors. We were a little young (with three freshman starters) early. But we came back, we fought back. I was proud of the way we fought back.

I think our defense is clearly ahead of where our offense is right now. We recognize that we have a veteran setter who we think will help us catch up in a hurry.

He is a superb kid.

That helped set the tone. Then he (Upchurch) leads off and gets a hit.

We're honored to be chosen. We'll work as hard as we can to live up to it.
