Turn on the lights,
And hide from sight,
As we come trick or treating,
Throughout the night.
Is that scratching?
Or was that wind?
Did you see the movement?
I think it grinned.
As I crouched,
Behind my couch,
Waiting for the knocking,
From there abouts.
The lights went dark,
I think I screamed,
And then something touched me,
Sight unseen.
I jumped up quick,
And stumbled twice,
I tried to leave,
Into the night.
I reached the door,
And opened the lock,
And as I ran out,
The shout went out.
Trick or treat!
I stopped and looked,
It was just kids,
I tried to smile,
My hands did shake,
Y...yo...you'll be wanting candy,
I said,
not feeling great.
They all stood looking,
And shook their heads,
And then they took out their scissor things,
It's not the candy,
Or sweets from you,
We just want your heart,
And some blood from you.
