Everything can be broken -- there's no such thing as perfect security. There's only degrees of insecurity.

Social Security is important to the economic survival of African Americans and other people of color. We have traditionally been at the low end of the earning scale over our lifetime.

This is going to be critical to make sure people have access to their Social Security, or SSI, or now, unfortunately, unemployment checks,

And I have to believe that in the interest of national security, the list of restricted activities will grow over time.

If we ever needed more of a reason not to do Social Security reform, this is it, because of the cost required. It's going to be a question of priorities, a question of whether Republicans are going to want to stand on the Senate floor and support more tax cuts for the wealthy.

Its intent is to buy us time without holding up development.
