Dictators must have enemies. They must have internal enemies to justify their secret police and external enemies to justify their military forces.

Dictatorships start wars because they need external enemies to exert internal control over their own people.

The situation in Bosnia is such that a safe withdrawal of American forces can be made effective. The scale of the problem is now such that it is entirely manageable by the Europeans.

Nature asserts itself in the face of Spirit which it denies while assuming it; the individual is again found in the collectivity within which he is lost; & each man's death is fulfilled by being cancelled out into the Life of Mankind.

But deluded people don't realize that their own mind is the Buddha. They keep searching outside.

Any authoritarian regime, having suppressed normal political conditions, will find itself in need of internal and external enemies, someone to blame for peoples' misfortunes.
