Here you see (Trimble) walking out of incomplete talks last week, orchestrating a campaign of mass intimidation and all that went with it, and then he walks back into the talks this morning.

We want to hold exploratory talks, but these are not coalition negotiations.

When statesmen want to gain time, they offer to talk.

When they do return to the talks we want North Korea to be prepared to talk in a substantive and serious way about how to move forward on the proposal we have on the table. That's where our focus is.

We should maintain the momentum of the negotiations, rather than lower the ambitious target set by the Doha talks.
