Children learn through movement and music. A lot of our songs have actions that children can do. They can learn body-movement coordination by modeling the actions, like putting up their hands and doing the Twist.

They (ABC) actually ran a clip for one of the songs and that went really well because they broadcast it during their preschool time slot. That sort of like caught on and we said 'Well this is going well.' So there was a bit of demand there for the album. Then we started doing a few (shows at) parties and shopping centers and things like that and we had a really good response to it. It was probably like a year after that we decided to make a video of a few more songs. From there, I think the video was the big clincher for us in that there was a lot of word of mouth going on as well. The children responded really well to the videos.

You can enjoy the music. It's very light, but you learn things.

We tend to get wrapped up in the music, but a teacher once told me that songs are monologues set to music, and I wanted to get hold of the story, the emotions and the people.

Back then the shows were maybe 50 or 60 minutes, whereas now, they're like an hour and 20 minutes. We've cut it back to two shows a day instead of four. That makes it a bit more manageable.

I think we've reached a lot of families. I don't think we're at the level yet of what we are in Australia in terms of the average guy going down the street knows about it. But certainly a lot of families do know us.
