By providing students in our Nation with such an education, we help save our children from the clutches of poverty, crime, drugs, and hopelessness, and we help safeguard our Nation's prosperity for generations yet unborn.

If we want to invest in the prosperity of our nation, we must invest in the education of our children so that their talents may be fully employed.

Men, women and children, our fellow countrymen have now gone days - days - without food and far too long without clean water and medical attention. They are surrounded by flood waters littered with dead bodies and human feces. To the president of the United States, I simply say that God cannot be pleased with our response.
