Both schools agreed it was best to play the rivalry game on the final weekend to conclude the regular season.

It's always a good weekend when we play the Arizona schools. We need to focus on our game and do the little things that make up UCLA softball.

The rivalry wasn't as intense as it is now. The two [schools] used to be two purely academic schools. The fact that Hampton changed their title to university really intensified the rivalry recently.

We played terribly that weekend. We've always had a solid rivalry with them. The kids have always had a good rivalry with them. We're going to come out to play, for sure. They've played well. They crushed Liberty (Friday), 7-1. The kids know they have to play better than today.

It was a tough (past) weekend in Colorado for us. We were certainly happy to come back and play at home again.

Hampden's the best team that we're going to play. It's a rivalry, and we've been looking forward to this. It feels good to get that first big test, but they'll be ready for us when we go down there.
