Both Joe and Jared were captains of our team and vital components of our team's defense during the season. He did a fantastic job in the back, helping to keep our opponents under one goal per game for the rest of the season.

I suppose the meet ended up much closer than we thought for several reasons. First, Woodland was better than their previous results indicated; second, a few of our guys were not feeling well today, and third, we had a few guys trying too hard and not performing up to their ability.

Off the bat, everything started real well so we just built off that. And defense like we had, we didn't have any errors, so you can't be afraid to throw it in the strike zone and let them put it in play.

It was just a play where I'm coming across the formation, a crossing route. I try to outflank the defense. Thankfully, Madison Hedgecock threw a heck of a block down there, got the guy on the ground, which enabled me to score.

They're a strong quick team and like to get up into the man to man defense. We know going in they like to use a lot of ball pressure defense. To a certain degree you don't want to play their type of game. We want to play our style of game.

I felt I had to step up. I'm the other captain on the team (with Webster), and captains are supposed to lead by example. I told myself that I would go out and have a good second half, and not force things like I was in the first half.
