Bernie was great. The assist on Crawford isn't easy, a catch in left-center field, a couple of base hits; it was a big night for him. I'm really happy for him.

The only thing you need to adjust to is the slicing and the hooking. In center field you don't get those balls that slice away from you. There are balls in the corner that are going to scoot around. I feel very pleased that he's been able to play them as well as he played them.

Johnny became a star there; he went there as a center fielder and left as a cult hero. He was created there -- not that he wasn't worthy. I can't say he's not going to be emotional about it, but I don't think it's going to bend him out of shape in any way.

Your palms don't get as sweaty in center field as they do at first base when a big left-hander is hitting.

I know, I know. He's still enjoying what he's doing; that's the only thing I base it on. If I felt it were more drudgery than normal, or I sensed more frustration, you would ask him back automatically because that's only the proper thing to do, but I sense he's still having fun with it. So we'll certainly talk about it.

We didn't hit. We had a couple of situations with guys on base where we didn't get hits. We have to have those with guys in scoring position.
