Before Africa 2000 Network-Uganda (A2N-Uganda) came here, we had lost hope because the land was unproductive and our crops were prone to pests.

We were also provided with improved planting materials such as pineapple suckers, banana suckers, mosaic free cassava cuttings and vegetable seeds. Today we produce enough food for consumption and sell the surplus.

The hope would be that the storm would actually move over land a little quicker because it would prevent it from sitting over the warm Atlantic ocean waters -- these waters 85, 90 degrees -- and possibly gaining strength.

The joy of viewing land, the hope of in a few days ranging through the long wished-for spot and the pleasure of again resuming my wonted employment may be readily calculated.

My hope is that the decisions being made by the Land Management Committee are the correct ones and that it is I who has judgment that is flawed.

On this land, Muslims, Christians and Jews can coexist together, as they have - as they had for the - for hundreds of years in the framework of a democratic state.
