Basically, cost equals time plus money. The fact that things take longer to process costs more money. A company would also have to be ready, in the event that it wins, to have people ready to service the contract.

You're spending taxpayer dollars, so a reasonable degree of transparency is required. But if someone has an expectation that you would have the same efficiencies as in a private sector supply chain, that's probably not going to happen, because private sector doesn't have to worry about transparency. When it's taxpayer money, additional steps are required.

These guys cashed out big time, made a lot of money by taking their company public. Little did they know or care that they were inviting into the house major private capital investment companies that were going to put pressure on their future management.

Last time we did the company a favor because times were tough. They're making money now, with huge profits, so there's no reason why they can't share the wealth.

It's a great company and they've been around a long time. But things are changing pretty fast and sometimes the bigger and more successful you are, the harder it is make a change.

If a company doesn't use their time, money and manpower to tackle major commercial obstacles then the product will flop regardless of how much time, money and manpower is used. The successful brands are backed by teams that are knowledgeable about the industry and what potential problems may arise. These teams use what resources they have to make a favorable climate for their drug.
