At first they were a little hesitant. Then, like a family, they pretty much grew on you. We knew a lot of them by name that we dealt with every day. We knew their families. We knew almost everything about them.

I thought about home. I actually thought about seeing my family and if I was ever going to be able to see them again. I thought about staying alive and talking with all my other military buddies to get our minds off of what was going on.
