As some House Republicans tell it, their vote today to change party rules was not just about protecting Tom DeLay. They say it was about taking power away from a Democratic prosecutor who they believe may be eager to indict their majority leader.

So the next thing I assume I'll be hearing from Republicans, they want to change rules some way, as they do on the House when you get a problem with ethics, they just change the rules.

With Republicans, Tom DeLay has not been kicked off the team. He is still on the team and is still working and helping.

There has been a fundamental change in the paradigm of politics today. I don't think Republicans even realize this.

Today is the last day for an individual to change their party enrollment so that it would be effective next year. For purposes of voting or running for office,

A delay is impossible because it would constitute a violation of the rules. It would also disregard fans throughout all of Italy, disrupt the teams, cause serious financial problems for clubs and cause serious repercussions for clubs involved in international play and for the national team.
