As a navel-gazing exercise, I guess that?s very interesting, but as an editorial decision, I think it?s terribly irresponsible. It seems to be a rather calculated effort not to advance any discourse on the events of the day but merely to provoke.

The universe of his own feelings keeps crowding everyone else's out. It is a constant struggle to see other people as people, rather than as denizens of a dimension one level below the one in which he's doomed to wander, imperially alone. That someone close to him might right now be awake in a different part of the city, feeling a pain every bit as real as his own . . . he can think it, but cannot seem to remember it. And is 'remember' even the right word for something for which you have zero empirical evidence? Postulate, maybe. Imagine. He sweeps the lens back toward the window, where the cat hasn't stirred. Her tail twitches. An idea threatens to form, but doesn't.

The exercise covered the principal decision-making and communications issues that would face us in a pandemic. The drill emphasized the need for all of us to continue working together to determine and answer some fundamental questions before we are actually faced with them. These included: At what point would we send students and nonessential staff home? How would we care for remaining faculty and staff, and those students who couldn't evacuate? What decisions could be made by Harvard versus state or local officials? Who would make which crucial decisions and how would those decisions be communicated?

He's always studying and trying to learn about nutrition and exercise. He's absolutely one amazing gentleman.

If you haven't been given enough guidance on how to begin or maintain an exercise program, or if there's not enough camaraderie in the (gym) environment, or if you're not comfortable with that particular crowd, you probably won't want to spend much time there.
