1 month ago the American people stopped to remember the third anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war. We thought first and foremost of the selflessness, patriotism and heroism by our troops, our National Guard and Reserves.

My point here is not that the Iraq War was a bad idea in the first place (though it certainly was). My point is that this cynical, foolish, arguably illegal war might still have come right in the end—if only we had tried a little less hard to fix everything that struck us as broken.

From the beginning, I was a strong supporter of the war in Iraq against Saddam Hussein. He was a dictator, warmonger, terrorist, outlaw, murderer, torturer, thief, and thug.

We need to stop the war in Iraq, we need to bring our troops home immediately. We need to see George Bush and the rest of them tried for crimes against humanity. We need justice for our children.

I don't think those messages really get through. I think people know this demonstration is about the war in Iraq, and I think that theme overrides any other messages that may be off-message. You get what I'm saying? I think at every peace demonstration you have many voices, but I think the central message is about the war in Iraq.

I'm against this war, I'm against the torture. We're doing this for the people of Iraq.
